For a preliminary quote on your project, just email us a photo or layout of your existing space with a few details regarding styles and colours that you are interested in. Our designers may ask you for additional details in order to provide you with more accurate pricing or to provide you with options within your budget.

Please keep in mind If you are looking to refinish your cabinets, we will need to physically examine a sample of the existing substrate to ensure that it is appropriate for refinishing.

How Much to reface a Kitchen?

Refacing a kitchen similar to the render above would start as low as $1,100 for a DIYer in a basic door style.

Prices could rise above $7,000 if an expensive door style is chosen and Cupboards Renew is providing all services including measuring, installation and demolition.

If you are reasonably handy, are able to perform most of the work yourself and choose an average priced door (eg. NexGen shaker door) including new soft close hinges, handles and new matching end panels, your price would be approximately $3,000.

What is the Expected Lead Time to reface a Kitchen?

Often, doors and panels can be cut and finished in less than 2 weeks from sign off.

What Goes into Refinishing a Kitchen?

Most of our refinishing is done in our shop. The hard, durable, furniture grade lacquers we use can only be sprayed in a government approved industrial booth. These sprayed finishes will have superior durability and surface quality. There are no professional quality furniture finishes that can legally be sprayed in a person’s home.

For this reason, cabinets and parts are disassembled and transported to the shop as often as possible. Sometimes panels are used to cover up areas that are impractical to uninstall. Also small areas can be brushed or sprayed on site with a closely matching water based polyurethane or melamine paint.

How Much to Refinish a Kitchen?

Refinishing a kitchen like the render picture above would start around $750 for a DIYer that brings his doors in for a few touch-ups and a quick refresh of the top coat in white or clear finish.  The price could go higher than $5500 if a difficult custom finish is chosen, door hardware is being replaced and we are doing all the measuring, on site refinishing, installation and transportation of parts.

If you are reasonably handy and able to do most of the installation and transportation work yourself and if you choose a medium difficulty finish, you could expect your price to be about $2300 including new handles.

What is the Expected Lead Time to Refinish a Kitchen?

There could be a 2 to 4 week lead time to book the booth for the respray but it only takes about four days to complete the work in the shop once we’ve started. If you are handling the transportation and re-installation yourself, we would normally have you drop off the items for respray on a Monday and pick them up that Friday.

How to Arrange for Cupboard Repairs?

In-shop work will always be less expensive than on-site work. Doors, drawers and small cupboards can be removed and brought into the shop for touch up and repair. We can even cut down cabinets and doors so that new larger appliances will fit.

Since we are one of the few residential cabinet companies in town that actually has a full service cabinet shop, we have become experienced in repairs of all types. If you need a cabinetmaker to come to your home or business for a repair, give our service department a call.

The minimum service call cost is $300, so if it is a small job, have the cabinetmaker adjust all your doors and drawers while they’re out there to realize better value.
